wow, wow! this is one of the first reflections i've gotten from someone who isn't a family member or friend of mine and it's so exciting to read. i'm thrilled this experimental writing project is giving you something. this inspires me to keep going.
I consume A LOT of WNBA coverage: podcasts, newsletters, as well as all the regular sources: newspapers, magazines, social media etc. There's some great stuff out there. I'm particularly fond of The Dunker Spot. As someone who's been following the W since 1999, & as a long time Liberty season ticket holder, I'm grateful for the explosion of coverage in the last few years. (Though not for those who are just on the CC beat. Yawn. Though I appreciate the coverage of why just covering that one player is such bs.)
But. There's almost nothing that captures how magical going to a game is. How joyous. The intensity. The community. The gossip. Being able to tell T Spoon how much she means to us.
With these notes you're writing about that magic, about the crowd, and I love it.
This newsletter is my absolute favourite WNBA coverage. You make me laugh and cry and rewatch games. Thank you.
