Great story- entertaining, true & well spoken! The historical rivalries in pro bb from the NBA Laker/Celtics to the Chicago/Iowa rivalry in the WBL- supercharged the fans and brought an electric atmosphere to the games. Of course now thats EVERY Valkyrie home game at the Chase Center!!
As a long time Liberty fan we have So. Many. Rivals. Back in the early days it was the Sparks. Can't lie, no matter how bad LA has been recently, beating them always feels good. And the Comets. Then there's Connecticut (wah! The Sun!) who we've battled in, or on the way to, the playoffs, oh so many times. Of late it's the Aces and the Lynx. Though it was also the Lynx earlier on too but like with the Comets that Maya Moore era was more the Liberty stepping into a meat grinder. I feel like a rivalry requires both sides to have some chance of victory.
I love this Valks team. You have some of my fave players and def my fave coach--other than Sandy.

Love this post! So resonates with me! I definitely have polyamory for so many teams and players, even if my main team is Valkyries! My partner says I can't have more than one favorite but that is so limiting! Now, what's the word for having 14 rivals: polyrivalry? Polyarchery?

Because we sucked for most of our existence. Because the front offices weren't great nor were most of the coaches. But our players always had heart!
